Freshly laid sod with tight seams beside a new mulch bed

Sod Installation in Tampa, FLOld turf out. New sod in.

We clear the old turf and weeds, prepare the ground, and lay fresh sod with tight seams. Then we show you how to water it.

Fresh sod, laid tight.

Sod Installation, done right.

When a lawn is mostly weeds and bare spots, patching it only goes so far.

We take out the old turf and weeds, then prepare the ground so the new sod can root.

The sod goes down on moist soil in a staggered brick pattern with tight seams, then it is rolled and watered.

We also help you pick a grass for your sun and shade. We treat every yard as if it were our own.

  • Old turf and weeds cleared

The worn-out grass and weeds come out first, so the new sod is not starting over a mess.

  • Staggered, tight-seamed laying

Pieces are laid in a staggered brick pattern with tight seams, then rolled and watered in.

  • Help choosing a grass

St. Augustine, zoysia or bahia: we help you pick a grass for the sun and shade in your yard.

Why it matters in Tampa

Built for Tampa yards.

New sod needs the right start, and Tampa gives it a few ways to fail.

UF/IFAS advises against establishing sod during cold weather or the hot, dry stretch of summer.

UF/IFAS also says Floratam St. Augustine does not persist well with less than 6 hours of sun a day.

Shade-tolerant cultivars exist, and so do zoysia and bahia.

Watering has to fit the allowed hours of the current water-shortage order, and that applies to new sod too.

We help you pick a grass for your sun and shade, then plan the watering around the order.

How it works

From first call to finished.

Call or text (813) 954-8641. You talk to the owners, not a call center.

  2. We look and quote

We check the size, the sun and shade, and what is there now. Then we give you a clear price.

  3. Clear and prepare

The old turf and weeds come out, and the ground is prepared for the sod.

  4. Lay, roll, water

Sod goes down staggered and tight, gets rolled and watered. You get care steps for the first weeks.

FAQ

Sod Installation questions.

When should sod be installed in Tampa?

UF/IFAS advises avoiding the cold and the hot, dry stretch of summer.

Outside those, tell us when you are thinking and we will suggest timing for your yard.

How soon can I mow new sod?

Wait until the roots have pegged down, which UF/IFAS puts at 14 to 21 days.

Hold off on fertilizer too, for 30 to 60 days. Ask us about mowing once it has taken.

How do I water new sod?

UF/IFAS suggests short, frequent waterings for the first 7 to 10 days, then fewer as the roots grow.

Every watering must fit the allowed hours of the current order. Ask us if you are unsure.

Which grass should I pick?

St. Augustine is well adapted to most Florida soils, but UF/IFAS says Floratam needs at least 6 hours of sun.

Zoysia and bahia are other options. We help you pick for your sun and shade.

Do you remove the old lawn first?

Yes. Taking out the old turf and weeds is part of the job.

Tell us what is in the yard now and we will plan from there.
